A Piece of the Great Piece

  • Centennial Park 449 Pine Brook Road Lincoln Park, New Jersey, 07035 United States (map)

Explore one of the area's premier birding destinations! Much of Lincoln Park's square mileage is protected wetland, offering excellent birding opportunities, including Great Piece Meadows, a remnant wetland of Glacial Lake Passaic that attracts numerous migrants. Centennial Park, a small "pocket" park at the edge of the meadows, has hosted an impressive concentration of bird species — including Morris County's first Ash-throated Flycatcher. Expect a variety of migrating songbirds and raptors, plus resident and lingering breeding birds such as the wood duck, great crested flycatcher, yellow-throated vireo, wood thrush, and rose-breasted grosbeak.
