Weird Duck Walk

Come join @fbc.jc and @njconservation as we scout for and celebrate winter waterfowl at Richard W. DeKorte Park.

We'll meet in the parking lot by the Environmental Center.

Sign up: Weird Ducks! - New Jersey Conservation Foundation

No experience necessary!

We will have binoculars and a scope to share

There should be plenty of parking available

There are several accessible trails including a boardwalk wide enough for wheelchairs and a railing, as well as two flat, non-rocky trails

New to weird ducks? Wondering what is 'weird duck' season?

During the winter a riotous variety of waterfowl fly south to our seas and wetlands. It's a great time to see all the "weird" ducks visiting that leave us in the spring - little ducks, large ducks, demure ducks, fancy ducks, ducks with mohawks, ducks in perfect duck camo, ducks with iridescent streaks, and likely some shorebirds, gulls, raptors, perhaps a grebe or a coot. Let's see! ~

Caven Point Birdwalk

Join us on Valentine’s Day, as Jersey City Birds teams up with Feminist Bird Club JC for a winter bird walk at Caven Point. Meet at 10am at Parking Lot 1 (Camp Liberty Parking Lot, 300 Morris Pesin Drive). Caven Point is a beautiful and vitally important bird habitat area and closes during nesting season, starting March 1st. We will meet at Parking Lot 1 and walk down to the beach. Distance is about 2 miles out and back, mostly flat and even with some rugged spots near the beach. Wear comfortable clothing and bring binoculars if you have them. We will bring some extras to share. Any questions, please email jerseycitybirds@gmail.com.

Rain date is 2/15.
