Fall Migration at Hawk Rise Sanctuary

Join the Feminist Bird Club of Jersey City for a fall migration outing! Nestled in an unlikely industrial area between oil fields, strip malls, and a former landfill, Hawk Rise Sanctuary is a surprising ecological refuge. Designed by birders (NJ Audubon & the DEP) for birds and birders, it offers varied habitats in a small area — marsh boardwalk, vernal pools, grassy meadow, and coastal woods. Walking the site during migration is a great chance to see bird life while imagining the area's future and its past. Expect confusing fall warblers, interesting migrants, and the possibility of unique grassland species!
