Wallkill River Birding

  • Montclair Bird Club 136 Owens Station Road Sussex, NJ, 07461 United States (map)

Join Montclair Bird Club on a trip to Wallkill River National Wildlife Refuge! This is a designated “Important Bird and Birding Area,” part of the Lenape National Wildlife Refuge Complex. Explore Wallkill’s 15,821 acres of wild habitats and walk along the Liberty Loop Trail, where you might be lucky enough to catch sight of species like the northern harrier, rough-legged hawk, and eastern bluebird!

Bring binoculars, a scope (if you have one), a snack, and something to drink. It might be icy, so bring ice traction cleats and walking sticks! Note that if it is icy, MBC will avoid walking as much as possible.

Bathrooms are located at the Owens Station Parking Lot.
