Jersey City Birds Art Show is back!

(July 31, 2026)

The Jersey City Birds Art Show is back for its third year at Barrow Mansion! Join us August 7-9 for a weekend celebrating the birds of Jersey City through the work of talented local artists and photographers.

Friday evening kicks things off with an opening reception featuring live music, light bites, a bird trivia challenge, and a first look at the wonderful work contributed by local artists, photographers, and birders. It’ll be a fun, informal evening, and we’ll have some brand new merch available (including a limited edition Northern Mockingbird t-shirt to honor the winner of our special election).

Saturday is Discovery Day, with activities for all ages, including a fascinating peregrine falcon talk by author and journalist Jim Wright, a nature journaling activity with Feminist Bird Club JC, a bird-themed art workshop, a STEM bird-house workshop from Questionable Engineering, and special feathered guests from Flat Rock Brook Nature Center. Attendees can get a close up look at some of their beautiful raptors, including Josephine the Great Horned Owl and Tilly, the Eastern Screech Owl.

Sunday we’re open 11am-3pm for a last chance to enjoy the art and also catch a 12pm screening of Listers, the acclaimed 2025 documentary that follows Owen Reiser and his brother Quentin as they spend a calendar year living out of a van and attempting to track as many birds as they can.

Throughout the weekend, we’ll have information about volunteering and local bird conservation, lots of bird-themed items available for a donation, and plenty of opportunities to celebrate the wildlife that makes our city so special. We can’t wait to see you there!

This year’s art show is supported by public funds from the Jersey City Arts and Culture Trust Fund.
