Join the Montclair Bird Club at the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge! This 7,000-acre area comprises of hardwood swamp, marsh, deciduous woods, fields, open water, and more, supporting a plethora of bird species year-round. You’ll be able to witness waterfowl and raptors, possibly along with a lucky yellow-billed cuckoo, willow flycatcher, cedar waxwing, and more! Even in January, eBird lists 106 species for the month.
Make sure to bring binoculars, a snack, and something to drink. Dress warmly. There are bathrooms by the boardwalks.
